Message from the Post Commander

As you each may know, every two years the leadership team of Post 60 changes.  You have elected the following Legionnaires to lead this Post for the coming year, and hopefully they will volunteer for an additional year for the sake of continuity: Terry O'Keeffe as Adjutant; Tim O'Leary as Finance Officer; John Pearson as First Vice Commander; John Dickey as Second Vice Commander and myself at the helm.  I have appointed Jack Knoblock and Archie Banbury as Ex Officio Officers, John Pearson and Archie Banbury as Co-Bar Commanders, Ed Bulgin as Sergeant at Arms, Rob Garrison as Post Service Officer and John Pearson as our Chaplain.  Under these people's wise and competent leadership we will continue the hard work that got us to where we are today.  Whether you are a member of the Legion, the Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion or a friend of the Legion we all need to remember and appreciate the dedication and forward thinking of our predecessors.  I am especially indebted to John Ernsberger and Jack Knoblock for their leadership before me and their efforts to push Post 60 to where we are today.  Equally, if not more important, are the stalwart members of this Post.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, any organization is only as strong and vibrant as the will and desire of each of its' members.  Post 60 enjoys a very strong and honest reputation among our peers in the American Legion and the community of Cascade which we serve.  Business owners, local public officials, school officials and agencies that serve this community hold us in high esteem because of our commitment to Veterans, Community and Children.  We will continue to serve and work to strengthen our image and reputation as a "can do" Veterans' Organization.  I thank each of you for your selfless volunteer spirit and I look forward to our continued success.

Message from the Auxiliary

Hello, my name is Donna M. Rushby and I'm your new Auxiliary President.

I have a vision of different fun things to plan and work on.I want to thank Jan West our former president for all her hard work and to let her know we appreciate her for her year of service, also her hard work in the kitchen. I would also like to take this opportunity to let our fellow sisters know just how much we all appreciate them. We couldn't all we do without your help, ladies. We have many new visions of ways to improve our Auxiliary. I hope to make this year one of fun and service to our veterans and their families. We have already started on some goals we hope to accomplish. We have been enlisting many new members, and I just know this year will be a good one. We plan to make more blankets for vets and their families, who really are in need. We had a terrific July 4th and are hopeful Labor Day will be good as well. I have talked to Phil Hawkins and we will be visiting and adopting more Vets from the Veterans Home. I know they would be so happy to get visits from us, so let's get going. After all, they have given so much of their selves, so time for us to give back. My Executive committee is wonderful, and a blessing to work with. So look forward to ushering out the summer soon and welcoming the Fall and Winter months. Any concerns, please contact me as I'm open to all suggestions.

Thank you all and I look forward to serving as your President.
