*** Thanksgiving at the Legion ***

Thanksgiving 2013

They did it again, our cook and his helpers prepared a Thanksgiving feast to celebrate our Annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

Each year Post 60 prepares a free Community Thanksgiving dinner open to all as a way of saying "Thank You" for the support the Legion receives from our community.

As in the past community members, not only donated money to help defray the food cost, along with members of the legion/auxiliary they also volunteered their time to help. And a big thanks to the ladies of local Cascade area churches who donated assorted pies for the enjoyment of all who attended, they were delicious and most appreciated. There were over 275 meals served that day another 30 meals donated to WICAP, 7 meals provided to our first responders that were on duty and 9 meals to folks who were housebound on Thanksgiving Day

This years' menu was:

Traditional Turkey and Ham with dressing
Mashed Potatoes with Gravy
Green Beans with Bacon and Onions
Sweet Potatoes
Cranberry Sauce
Rolls, Desert and Coffee

No one went away hungry.

More than 30 volunteers from the Legion, The Auxiliary, our churches and community members donated their time and efforts to make this a success.

COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER 2012

The American Legion, Post 60 of Cascade is pleased to report that we had a great turn-out for our Annual Community free Thanksgiving Dinner at the Legion Hall. According to the kitchen crew we served over 250 meals at the Hall, about 6 meals to First Responders who were on duty on Thanksgiving Day, and delivered 24 meals to folks who are housebound and couldn’t attend in person.

As in the in the past, generous folks made donations to help us defray the cost of the food. And again D-9 provided "turkey bucks" to help us purchase the turkeys.

Thanks to all of you, your support made this event possible. And a big thanks to the ladies of local Cascade area churches who donated assorted pies for the enjoyment of all who attended, they were delicious and most appreciated.

We couldn’t do this without the more than 25 great volunteers who freely gave their time preparing, setting up, decorating and serving this wonderful feast. A warm thanks to each of you!
